Why LEAN 6 Sigma?

LEAN 6 Sigma is a proven scientific method for improvement, but the truth is very few companies can actually tell which sigma value that they are performing at.

This is because 6 Sigma means that a company’s process or event is only experiencing 3.4 defects per one million opportunities or actions. Most companies perform at 2 to 4 sigma and experience a defect rate somewhere between 30-40%.

To achieve the 0.01 % defect rate of 6 sigma, a process must be controlled, analyzed, improved, and then tested for stable results. The process is continuous until the 6 sigma defect rate is achieved.

This is why LEAN 6 Sigma will use any tool that achieves the result of 6 Sigma. If using a garden rake results in a 6 sigma improvement, then by all means use the 6 Sigma Rake!

(Humor was utilized in the above posting and the use of Garden Rakes as tools in 6 Sigma are not advised, as our legal team really hates when we do this, but since we still have a sense of humor so we try to appease them with these notices that we were using humor. Ok. Legal responded and they advised that we were actually using sarcasm and not humor)!
